toober generates revenue through a combination of subscriptions and advertising. Depending on how viewers access the platform, your channel may earn revenue through one or both of these sources.

Ways Viewers Access Your Channel

1. Free-to-View Viewers (Unregistered)

Viewers can watch select content without creating a toober account. These viewers are supported primarily through advertising, which may include additional commercial inventory inserted by the platform.

2. Registered Viewers (Free Accounts)

Some viewers create a toober account, but do not subscribe to a paid plan. These viewers may still see platform-inserted advertising, though generally less than unregistered viewers.

3. Paid Subscribers

Paid subscribers receive the premium viewing experience. No additional platform advertising is inserted into your channel feed beyond the commercials already contained within your linear broadcast. Revenue from these subscribers is distributed through toober's consumption-based revenue-sharing model.

How Channels Earn Revenue on toober

toober is a marketplace designed to help channels grow their audience and generate revenue. Channels can earn from both subscription-based viewers and advertising-supported viewers, creating multiple opportunities to monetize content while maintaining full control of their channel and distribution rights.

Subscription Revenue Sharing

1. Subscriber revenue is collected.

Every toober subscriber pays a monthly subscription fee to access the platform's channel lineup.

2. Platform distribution fees are deducted (up to 30%).

Before revenue is distributed, platform fees are deducted. These are fees charged by device manufacturers, app stores, payment processors, streaming platforms, and other distribution partners that make toober available across connected TVs, mobile devices, the web, and legacy cable systems.

Because each platform has its own fee structure, the exact amount may vary depending on where a subscriber watches. However, the total platform fee deduction is capped at 30%.

3. Revenue is allocated based on viewing consumption.

Unlike traditional carriage models, toober rewards channels based on actual viewer consumption. Channels that actively promote their presence on the platform and build loyal audiences are positioned to earn a larger share of subscription revenue.

The more viewers engage with your channel, the greater your earning potential.

4. Revenue is shared between the channel and toober.

Of the revenue allocated to your channel:

  • 70% is paid to the content owner
  • 30% is retained by toober

If a subscriber watches only your channel during a billing period, your channel receives the full viewing allocation associated with that subscriber.

Before revenue is distributed, costs associated with ad serving, audience measurement, advertising technology, payment processing, and platform operations are deducted.

3. Revenue is allocated based on audience engagement.

Advertising revenue is allocated based on viewer consumption and engagement. Channels that attract and retain audiences are positioned to earn a larger share of advertising revenue.

As with subscription revenue, channels that actively market their presence on toober and grow their audience have the greatest opportunity to increase earnings.

4. Revenue is shared between the channel and toober.

Of the advertising revenue allocated to your channel:

  • 70% is paid to the content owner
  • 30% is retained by toober

Joining toober as a Content owner is simple.

Create Your Partner Account

Visit the Partner Portal:

Review and accept the standard partner agreement and complete your account registration.

Step 2:

Upload Your Channel Information

You'll be asked to provide:

  • Basic company information
  • Channel details
  • Branding assets
  • Rights and territory information
Step 3:

Connect Your Stream

Once approved, you'll receive:

  • RTMP URL
  • Stream Key
  • Username
  • Password

These credentials can be used to connect your channel directly to the toober platform.

FAQs

A subscriber must watch a channel for at least five minutes during the billing month for viewing to be counted toward revenue allocation.

Partner settlements are issued in Canadian Dollars (CAD). Currency conversion is based on the receiving institution's applicable exchange rates.

Yes. Payments are released once the account balance reaches CAD $100.

Yes. Additional users can be added and managed through the Partner Portal by the primary account administrator.
